MIRACLE COMPLETE

MIRACLE COMPLETE
One September of 2011, I blogged. Dreaming that i might one day be a patroller. It happened this weekend. This is a picure of me, waiting to do a "sweep" of the mountain after that last skier comes up the chair lift. It was a roller coaster of experiences getting here. And it was as amazing as anything I could have ever imagined !!

Unexpected Mistakes ?

"It often seems, looking back, that the unexpected comes to define us, the paths we didn't see coming and may have wandered down by mistake. The older we get the more willing we are to follow those, to surprise ourselves." — Anna Quindlen This was another quote.... barrowed/ stolen from the oprah website. As we get older, yes, we need to try new things with confidence, but we also need to cut ourselves some slack.

Make Your Circumstances

From the Oprah.com website. September 21, 2012 "The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them." — George Bernard Shaw

Dreams - Month Seven of Twelve - Post Three

Dreams
Month Seven of Twelve - Post Three

“Most dreams are also part reality (otherwise we wouldn't believe them), and reality happens to be a condition that gives you plenty of chances through your life to rise to — no, soar through—the occasion.”

Bold Moves - Month Seven of Twelve - Post Two

Bold Moves
Month Seven of Twelve - Post Two

I just realized this is month 7. So ... past the half way mark. I started this project with an idea of being focused on "home."

Then I decided to stay away from home 4 days a week, soon after the project started to train to be a ski patroller. Shortly after that ended, have spent several days a week away from home .... improving my skiing.

The grant I referred to in my last post is sponsored by a family. As a tribute to a man who passed away. He was a ski patroller, a community leader, an inventor, a builder, etc......... A busy guy going in five direction all at the same time.

Something about learning about him has made me feel like ........... I am not the only one who goes in five different directions all at once. I am so happy that I have a life partner who deals with all of this.

In my proposal I wrote that the grant would be a bridge to make an idea/ dream a reality. I hope I get it, because I feel so excited and passionate about doing it.

Jay, my husband, does not like me gone, but he deals with it. I often hear that the "bed is cold" when I am not there, etc........ Adam likes to call him the "bed cop."

I do believe that we all need to have a plan and start ....... move.......get in motion ........... and then go with the great things that we see along the way.

The other thing on the agenda ......last year I got cut from a team that I loved being a part of. And the more I think about it. The more I am not sure that the person who did the cutting has the complete authority to do so.

Me going off sad and grateful is not going to be the last chapter in this piece of history. I sent him an email this week, asking if I could have a conversatoin with him.

Because I know that when I go into to talk to them, they are going to say "Have you tried talking to him?" So I sent the email. I am waiting a week, so that I can say that I tried to talk to him.

And I am going to go talk to someone about it ......... next week.

Adam made some bold moves that he blogged about. I think this is "bold move" month.

Best Wishes, Marie

Ski Research Grant - Month Seven of Twelve - Post One

Ski Research Grant
Month Seven of Twelve - Post One

It is a sad day in the ski community. Canadian ski racer, Nick Zoricic, died today is a race. A tumble like any other tumble, but landed just wrong. Very Sad. I just watched him race last week.

Really sad. It has been such a wierd year for snow. So much odd snow. so much ice. Things have been warming up, then they freeze up, and we are trying to ski on a sheet of hard ice instead of snow.

I applied for a grant to do some research on structures that are resistant to or deflect snow during avalanches. I submitted everything a few weeks go. However, today was the deadline. So in a few hours ..... what is in will be in.

Then it will just be a matter of time. I was thinking that i hoped not too many people applied and I got it. One of my friends who is really out spoken and helped me with the proof reading said that he hopes that lots of people applied, and I beat them all out !!!

It has really been fun to have a fantasy about doing this project. Really exciting. My excitement is mixed with sadness at the death of this great athelete. and it reminds me of the respect that we need to have for mountains that we use as our "play ground." To trust our instincts.

Best Wishes, Marie

‘Simple, Classic, Elegant, Thrifty' - Month Six of Twelve - Post Two

‘Simple, Classic, Elegant, Thrifty'

Month Six of Twelve - Post Two

Want to say that life can be so "rich" when you really focus in and figure out what you want and what is important to you.

Seems like i want to buy more, spend more, etc..... when I am not fully engaged in something I love. Having something worthy (important to me) makes me feel so satisfied and thus ...... more deliberate.

Takes a little wrestling. and a little "getting over" feeling selfish for putting that "big rock" on the schedule from the start.

I am having a content morning. And feeling like I am seeing some progress when I have been feeling like I have been wrestling for a while. This is cool !

Celebrate - Month Five of Twelve - Post One

Extraordinary
Month Five of Twelve - Post One

“The best opportunities in life are the ones we create. Goal setting provides for you the opportunity to create an extraordinary life."

We are having a great time in San Jose de Cabo. Things were super busy with Chistmas and getting everything in order to leave for 9 days, but .... oh la la .... this is one of those extraordinary weeks. It is so nice to spend so much time with Jay. I planned all of it and he walked into the condo and about 2 mintues later said, "I like it."

Happy New Year to all, especially Adam.

Best Wishes, Marie
